Eboracum UK Ltd is proudly celebrating its 13th consecutive year as an SIA Approved Contractor, following another strong performance in its latest ACS assessment. The assessment, carried out by the SSAIB in November 2025, confirmed that the York-based security, safety, and business-support provider continues to meet — and often exceed — the high standards expected within the sector.
Eboracum achieved a high verified score, demonstrating consistent quality across strategy, service delivery, people, financial management, and leadership.
Details below are extracted from the Assessors report:
A Company Built on Communication, Professionalism & Community
The assessment highlighted Eboracum’s mature structure, strong communication culture, and consistent frontline professionalism. Staff across multiple customer sites praised management visibility and support, with weekly visits from supervisors and regular site engagement from the Managing Director (MD). One long-standing officer, with 17 years on a particular site across four employers, described Eboracum as:
“A good company… the best of the four. You see the managers more.”
Customer interviews were equally positive, with comments ranging from exceptional communication to culturally-embedded customer service values(quotes from assessor's report):
“Why can’t they all be like Eboracum?”
“They made us feel they were a people company — and they’ve lived up to that.”
“What a difference. I recommend them to other train operators.”
"They are really good, better than other companies we have used in the past. Communication is great, responsive, and since we have used them in a specific location, it’s been a success; they have made a difference."
"The MD is approachable, very engaged, and always good at what they do.”
“Staff customer service is brilliant. They respect their management. The MD is good at putting a positive on everything; there is no negative. They feel proud to be working for the company; I can’t fault them.”
Customers interviewed confirmed that communication was excellent, with all describing the "Managing Director as a positive and helpful individual who is always available to assist."
The assessor also commended Eboracum’s contribution to the local community, particularly through Operation Tungsten, where the company deploys staff free of charge to assist businesses with loss prevention and crime reduction.
Industry-Leading Standards in Keyholding & Security Operations
The assessment found that Eboracum’s procedures in keyholding, alarm response, and vehicle management meet the requirements of BS 7984-1 and BS 7984-3. Keys are tracked, sealed, and audited frequently; response vehicles are clean, fully equipped, GPS-tracked, and inspected before each shift. Staff demonstrated strong knowledge of risk, escalation procedures, and on-site responsibilities.
Frontline professionalism was also noted, with officers consistently well-presented, knowledgeable about policies, and confident in using the company’s digital systems.
Managing Director’s Reflection on 13 Years of ACS Accreditation
Managing Director Carl Nickson said:
“Being recognised for the 13th consecutive year as an SIA Approved Contractor is more than an accreditation — it’s a reflection of our people. Our operatives, supervisors, and managers represent Eboracum with pride every day, and the ACS assessment shows the impact of their professionalism, dedication, and care.We will continue to innovate, continue to support our customers and communities, and continue to invest in our team. This achievement belongs to every member of the Eboracum family.”
What Is the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS)?
The SIA Approved Contractor Scheme is the UK’s official quality benchmark for private security companies. Run by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) — the regulator for the industry — the ACS independently assesses how well security providers operate across areas such as leadership, staffing, training, customer service, financial management, and compliance with British Standards.
Being ACS-approved means a company:
has been independently audited against over 80 performance indicators
consistently delivers safe, professional, and reliable services
invests in staff development and welfare
communicates effectively with customers
meets strict legal, operational, and ethical standards
Only companies that demonstrate sustained excellence retain their approval each year, making 13 consecutive years a significant achievement.
