A brazen bike thief thought he’d got away with it — until Eboracum's York BID Street Rangers swooped in and stopped the suspect, recovering the stolen cycle before reuniting with the victim.
The distinctive bike was reported stolen to the Street Rangers on 22nd August, leaving its owner frustrated and annoyed. But just 48 hours later, bike were spotted by the Rangers — being ridden brazenly through the city centre by a known offender.
With sharp instincts, the Rangers closed in and the suspect was detained. The bicycle was then recovered, bringing a swift end to the thief’s two-day joyride.
The victim has now been reunited with their bike, thanks to the Street Rangers’ vigilance and determination.
Simon, who is a manager at a city centre business was the victim of the theft. He said:
"When my bike was stolen, I honestly thought it was lost forever, but nope the Street Rangers came to the rescue and returned my bike. Totally amazed and so, so happy. Always liked the work the Street Rangers do, keep the good work up guys."
Carl Nickson, Managing Director at Eboracum® said: “Our Rangers are out every day keeping the city safe. This was a fantastic example of their quick thinking and teamwork.”
Once again, York’s Rangers proved they’re more than just friendly faces on the streets — coupled with the in-depth partnership colleboration, they’re a force to be reckoned with.
